A website that I use to purchase all of my books, including textbooks is amazon.com .
I chose this website because it has the biggest online selection of books to choose from, making it the most useful online bookstore for me.
(useful information:) Amazon not only provides the titles and description of its books, but also excerpts from books you are interested in. In addition to editorial reviews, amazon provides you with reviews written by other customers as well as other books bought by people interested in the book you're looking at.
Amazon obtains information from book manufacturers, authors, as well as customers who are willing to comment on a particular book.
Amazon makes information useful and not overwhelming by dividing its pages up into different sections so that users can look at one section for editorial and customer reviews, another section for excerpts and summarys, another section for similar books, ... etc.
Ebay.com is a website that competes with Amazon. Ebay is an online auction, where people who have an old book, or who do not need a book anymore can auction it off to the highest bidder online. One way that ebay is superior to Amazon is that unlike amazon, there may not be a set price that the buyer must pay for a book. The person selling the book places it on ebay, and sells it to the person who bids the most for it. Whereas amazon must pay a portion of its earnings to the author of a book, ebay is not obligated to do so. Therefore, by using ebay, users pay only as much or as little as the person selling the book wants to accept for it. It is this potential for a book to be obtained at a cheaper price that makes this aspect of Ebay superior to amazon.com .

I would just like to thank Mike for adding a link to my blog in his blog. Maybe I'll actually get some more hits in Google Analytics now!

The two companies I chose were Verizon Communications and Microsoft. I first chose Verizon because I lost my cell phone this past weekend and as a result I had to make a trip to the Verizon Wireless store to get a new one. I secondly chose Microsoft because my computer of choice is an IBM Thinkpad, which runs Microsoft Windows XP.
In terms of the path connecting the two companies, I noticed that the path goes through General Electric as one of its nodes. I guess this makes sense since GE is a company that produces appliances and both Verizon and Microsoft are companies that also produce appliances. However, I was surprised to see that the path contains Procter & Gamble, which is a company that supplies a variety of consumer goods.

The first bookmark I chose to add was the bookmark to The Onion's website. I used to read The Onion all the time in high school and always thought it was hilarious. I sort of stopped reading it when I came to college and when I saw it as someone's bookmark I new I definitely had to check it out again.

The second bookmark I added was to the Boston Red Sox homepage. I'm not really a Sox fan, but a friend had an extra ticket to the game tonight and asked me if I wanted to go. So I guess you could say that I was in a "Red Sox mood" and it was a game time decision.
I have chosen the share-alike Creative Commons license. I chose this license because in my blog I am mostly going to be writing my views and opinions. If my views inspire people to develop their own views based on mine or they wish to expand on my ideas, I want people to feel free to do so. I believe this license will allow people to accomplish this goal. Further, it also stipulates that if people do expand on my ideas, then they must also agree to share it with others just as I have and allow others to build upon it if they so desire.
If you click on the hyperlink, you will be able to view the Creative Commons license:
